In May 2007, at the beginning of the real estate decline, we decided it was time to stop and smell the roses.  After working 24/7 for many years,  we want to travel the backroads of the U.S. for a couple of years.  Too frequently, we have passed by or flown over places and said “We should go there someday.”  Someday has Arrived!

The first trip saw us travelling from the deserts of Arizona, through the crop fields of the Midwest, to the shores of Lake Superior and ending with a month on the coast of Maine.  And, that was only the trip out!.  The return trip was filled with fall color and family and ended back in Arizona just as the winter began to arrive in the rest of the country.

Our goal with the blog is to keep a journal of our travels for our own use, plus to keep friends and family up-to-date  about the current antics.  We look forward to comments and experiences as we visit the backroads of the US.

Are you going to hit ALL 50 states like your mother and I have done?

Dale and Ginger, congrats again. The car looks beautiful. Well done. Am sure it has great lumbar support for Ginger. Looking forward to following the trip and even more so to seeing you guys on the next trip out west. The pictures are really well done. If you get a chance will you send us the name and model of the camera? Or is the high level of quality all due to the skill of the camera man/woman?

Take care and safe travels, Jim and Karen Cramer

Probably not, we wouldn’t want to set such a lofty goal. We’ll let you two keep that title. We’ll just be meandering around smelling the roses…

Thanks for the compliment! The camera is a Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ3. We’re really happy with it. It’s small but has a wide angle lens so it works well for scenery shots. As soon as we get on the road, we’ll take a shot with the Beemer & scenery for the top of the page. See you guys when we head West, but stay in touch here as we travel to the Northeast, please.

Hi Dale, too bad you won’t make the D/W luncheon. Sounds like you’re busy! Good luck in your travels and if you (ever) return to Southern Cal give me a call!

You’re truly living the American Dream!
